Sacked: Former Minister Hon. Dr. Sylvia Blyden

Santigie Kargbo, Freetown

Information reaching this press indicate that on the insistence of the APC presidential candidate Samura Kamara, President Koroma has sacked the Minister of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs Hon. Dr. Sylvia Blyden and her deputy Hon. Rugiatu Neneh Turay (Koroma) following a public spat on a morning radio show on fm 98.1. The deputy minister accused Hon Blyden of corruption on the morning radio show which prompted Dr. Blyden to call into the show to counter the allegations. What followed was accusations and counter accusations. Many listeners condemned the public display of disagreement between the APC ministers. Sources close to the APC presidential campaign informed this press that the swift action to sack the two ministers emanated from the fact that the APC wanted to distract the nation from the negative social media attention the APC presidential candidate Samura Kamara was receiving because he had his picture taken with an inappropriately clad woman who it was insinuated is his concubine. Secondly the APC presidential candidate Samura Kamara is said to be unhappy with Dr. Blyden because according to the source, Dr. Blyden has not used her newspaper the Awareness Times to promote his candidacy. The source within the APC who spoke on condition of anonymity said that it was Samura Kamara who pressured President Koroma to sack Dr Blyden. President Koroma not wanting his actions to look biased against Dr. Blyden opted to sack both of them but according to the source, President Koroma will soon appoint Mrs Rugiatu Neneh Turay (Koroma) to a lucrative position at State House. Shortly after the public spat, the office of the president issued a press release informing the world about the sacking of the Minister and her Deputy. See release below.
