Nfa Ali Conteh: faking Conflict with APC?
Santigie Kargbo, Freetown
Contrary to popular belief in Freetown that the APC government is in conflict with Nfa Alie Conteh the Chief Electoral Commissioner of NEC and Ms Miata French the Electoral Commissioner for Western Area, credible sources within the APC have told this paper that there is no conflict whatsoever. The source who spoke to this reporter only on condition of anonymity said he believes that NEC and APC are feigning conflict so that they can distract the people from the massive rigging plans they have hatched. To drill his point home, the source asked why would anyone think President Koroma is scared of sacking the NEC Boss when he has sacked an elected Vice President and had expelled the UN Secretary General’s representative with no consequences? The plan according to the source is simple. APC will openly criticize NEC and make threats so that the public will not question the credibility of the institution. As such when they would eventually rig the elections, APC will point to the false conflict as proof that the NEC boss did not get along with them and so could not have possibly rigged in their favor. Asked about the alleged audio threatening the lives of Nfa Ali Conteh and Miata french, the source laughed it off saying that was part of the plan to get the public to believe the conflict was real when it was not. On the issue of the moratorium on funding the activities of NEC, this reporter further found out from credible sources within the office of the president that it is yet another strategy to distract the public.
Miata French: Commissioner Western Area
It should be noted that Nfa Ali Conteh was the Electoral Commissioner North during the 2012 election who allowed massive rigging to go on in the region by allowing many constituencies to vote without using voters register. As for Miata French, sources within the SLPP accuse her of facilitating the rigging process in Western Area in 2012. After NEC illegally banned vehicular traffic in the country, Miata French it is reported gave over 300 election day passes to the Open Government Initiative Office which is housed in State House. The OGI actually had only 17 staff members. The head of OGI in turn distributed these passes to APC operatives who wetn around Freetown posing as human rights observers but were in actual fact facilitating the rigging. When this information was brought to the attention of the source, he chuckled and asked a rhetorical question: do you think those two people [Nfa Ali and Ms French] are all of a sudden so much against APC that they will be in conflict? The source further stated that the people of Sierra Leone should not forget the fact the President Koroma personally appealed to parliament in order to reappoint Miata French even though she was no longer eligible for that position. He ended by saying “to believe the fake conflict is like a cow believing that its herder will never kill it for beef”.
